A survey for Halton Borough Council has revealed that 63% of staff are worried about what lies ahead.
The council’s Staff Survey 2025 found that over half of its 634 respondents are concerned about the ‘future of the organisation’.
The figures highlighted that only 20% of respondents believed those elected understood the ‘roles and responsibilities’ of council officers, while less than half (47%) felt the local authority is ‘a place where they can progress’.
However, the survey also found that 78% of staff are satisfied in their roles, with a further 70% of respondents reporting that they take pride in working for the local authority.
In a report to be reviewed by Halton’s corporate and inclusion policy and performance board next week, it is revealed that the council’s management team hoped for the survey return to be higher.
‘Where possible, the reasons that people didn’t return the survey will be explored prior to the next survey, to try and obtain an even greater response rate’, it reads.
