Thousands of flood victims are not receiving essential Government support to help protect their homes against future storms, new research reveals.

Data from One Home reveals that the £5,000 Property Flood Resilience (PFR) grant scheme, established in 2013, is failing to reach those in need.

After Storms Babet and Hent, for example, only seven out of 94 eligible homeowners in Norfolk applied for the grant, the research found.

According to One Home, many people are deterred from applying because the application process is complicated and requires upfront survey costs.

Angela Terry, chief executive of One Home, commented: ‘The PFR grant scheme is not supporting flood victims in their most desperate time.’
