Union Unite has described the Government's commitment to ban the practice of fire and rehiring workers as ‘now nothing more than a burned out shell'.

The Government has amended its Employment Rights Bill, allowing councils with financial problems that are placed under intervention to be exempt from a ban on sacking and then rehiring employees.
