The local government finance settlement represents  ‘a continuation of the begging bowl culture that continues on a never-ending loop’, shadow minister Jim McMahon has said.

Speaking in yesterday’s House of Commons debate on the settlement, McMahon said: ‘Today could have been the day when Government brought forward a sustained multi-year settlement, but the Government have failed on every test.’
