A former Labour councillor has been charged with blackmail and communications offences following a probe into the Westminster ‘honeytrap’ scandal.
Oliver Steadman, 28, has been charged with one count of blackmail and five counts of improper use of a public electronic communications network following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
Steadman — previously a councillor in Islington before his resignation after his arrest last June — is accused of sending unsolicited messages and indecent images to individuals working in Westminster, including MPs.
He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 3 November 2025.
