Delivering Differently bidders who were not awarded funding by the Cabinet Office are being encouraged to present their ideas to a ‘Dragons’ Den’ style panel.
Consultancy firm RedQuadrant will support up to six projects not successful in bidding for the Delivering Differently programme. The selected bids will be given resources from the firm, with entrepreneur Alexander Stevenson providing funding.
Managing partner of RedQuadrant, Ben Taylor, said: ‘We believe in the ability of local government to innovate, and want to encourage it.
‘The delivering differently fund is a great idea. Improvement is critical when your customers are the public. And as councils face more and more cuts, innovation is crucial if the needs of communities are to be met.
‘But the fund has a downside: only ten projects will be selected. That means there’s another 128 innovative ideas left unsupported – ideas that could have a real impact on people’s lives.’
The company will ask for a share of savings or income generated in exchange for the funding and support.
Mr Stevenson said: ‘I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is and join with the most innovative public sector managers in making their ideas real.’
Interested bidders should submit their Delivering Differently bids by 28 March to deliveringdifferently@redquadrant.com
