The plans of the celebrity chef Jamie Oliver to turn a former stable block at his historic home into a bakery have been delayed after a blunder by the council.
Oliver is seeking planning permission to change the use of the block so that he can use it as a pop-up takeaway bakery.
However, during the consultation process, some of the neighbouring properties were not formally notified by the council.
A spokesperson for Braintree District Council said that in the interests of ‘transparency and procedural fairness’ the local authority would undertake another consultation.
‘While this has resulted in a short delay to the original determination timescale, we believe it was correct in accordance with our duties, including those outlined under the council’s Scheme of Delegation,’ they said.
