Four councillors have resigned from Rushmoor Borough Council, leaving Labour without a majority.
Following the resignations, Labour no longer has control of the council, despite remaining the local authority’s biggest party.
Addressing the reasons for the move, the councillors reportedly said they were ‘unable to reconcile the policies, decisions and approach’ of the Government, according to the BBC.
Cllr Gareth Williams, leader of Rushmoor BC declared the loss of the councillors ‘disappointing’.
‘We have made real progress in a year since taking over the council and will continue in our mission to make a real difference in our community’, he added.
The councillors have purportedly confirmed their intentions to support the council’s administration by the local Labour group going forward.
