Cambridgeshire councils have accumulated almost £100,000 in littering fines over the last three years.
Since the beginning of 2023, councils across the county have reportedly distributed 889 penalty fines for littering.
Freedom of Information requests from the BBC found that Cambridge City Council issued the most fines, generating a total of roughly £83,000 from the notices.
However, the number of fines being distributed by the city council has been declining annually - with the local authority handing out 374 in 2023, 271 in 2024, 82 in 2025, and just 49 this year.
It has also been revealed that since 2023, 35 people across Cambridgeshire have been prosecuted for littering.
This includes four prosecutions made this year by the city council.
