Borough council in talks with actress Lindsay Lohan

Kettering Borough Council is in talks with Lindsay Lohan after the Hollywood star said she would be interested in switching on the city’s Christmas lights.

The Midlands city voted for Brexit in the recent EU referendum 61% to 39% prompting the Mean Girls actress to tweet: ‘Sorry, but Kettering where are you?’

The area’s Conservative MP Mr Hollobone characterised the tweet as ‘offensive’ and invited Ms Lohan to switch on this year’s Christmas lights to make amends.

The council has been able to make contact with Ms Lohan’s agent and is now waiting for a response.

‘We can confirm that Kettering Borough Council has now made direct contact with Lindsay Lohan’s representatives,’ a council spokesperson said.

‘Understandably her schedule is very busy but they are looking to see whether she can make it work.

‘Kettering’s Christmas lights switch on event is on Thursday 24th November and we are grateful for Lindsay’s interest in it.’
