Most people have yet to see the fruits of levelling up, according to a key Government adviser.

Andy Haldane, chair of the Government’s Levelling Up Advisory Council and described as an ‘architect’ of levelling up, described the policy as a ‘mixed bag’ so far.

Speaking at an event hosted by the Institute for Government think-tank today, he said there had been ‘some progress, more than has been given credit for, but when it comes to outcomes on the ground, less than the public probably expected'.

He added: ‘If you ask most people across the UK have you felt the fruits of levelling up, it’s a no.’
