The Forest of Dean District Council has issued a ‘complete and utter’ apology for wasting more than half a million of taxpayers’ money on refurbishing the reception area of its offices.
The council’s Labour Group had put forward the motion, which also attacked the closure of tourism information offices, higher charges for pest control, staff cut backs, charges for garden waste collection and car parking charges.
The motion, which was passed by the full council, also accused the authority of mistreating members of the public at council meetings, and failing to listen to residents for the past eight years.
The motion stated: ‘The existing Conservative administration have failed miserably to listen to the people of the Forest of Dean and as a result they have been badly let down. An unqualified apology is due.’
