BridgeHead Software, the Healthcare Data Management company, today announced that BridgeHead’s HealthStore® has been recognized as winner of the “Best Healthcare Data Repository” award in the 7th annual MedTech Breakthrough Awards program conducted by MedTech Breakthrough, an independent market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global health and medical technology market.

BridgeHead’s HealthStore® is a clinical data repository and registry for all healthcare information. The company’s latest release of HealthStore has focused on full support of the FHIR standard for data interoperability. This enables HealthStore to query and retrieve data from other FHIR-enabled systems.

HealthStore also provides a place to consolidate, store, protect, and provide access to the information it receives from those FHIR queries – making it available as part of the longitudinal patient record. In addition, HealthStore also allows other FHIR-enabled systems to query its registry and retrieve the data held within its repository.

Additionally, as HealthStore manages all manner of healthcare data, it is able to decommission applications ranging from EMRs to LIMS; PACS to emergency department systems – all using a single repository and registry. This allows hospitals to now extract all of the data from their inherited, duplicate and/or legacy systems, then store, protect, and access it within HealthStore’s clinical data repository.

"The reality is that comprehensive and cost-effective solutions that address the legacy application conundrum have been elusive. And with the increased complexity of data compliance and governance obligations, many hospitals have felt impotent to tackle the issue,” said John McCann, Vice President of Global Marketing at BridgeHead. “Increasingly, our customers are utilizing HealthStore to retire their legacy systems. Thanks to our latest innovations and product developments, we believe HealthStore is the only enterprise-wide, cross-department, clinical repository and registry worldwide that can consolidate, store, protect, and provide access to a combination of structured and unstructured documents, medical images, and discrete data; all in one place!”

The mission of the MedTech Breakthrough Awards is to honor excellence and recognize the innovation, hard work and success in a range of health and medical technology categories, including Telehealth, Clinical Administration, Patient Engagement, Electronic Health Records (EHR), Virtual Care, Medical Devices, Medical Data and many more. This year’s program attracted more than 4,000 nominations from over 17 different countries throughout the world.

“Approximately 70 percent of healthcare data lives outside of the EHR and much of this information is trapped inside patient, clinical or administrative application silos as many legacy applications have been inherited or replaced in favor of newer, fuller-featured systems or homegrown applications that are no longer supported,” said James Johnson, managing director, MedTech Breakthrough. “Bridgehead Software’s HealthStore helps in retiring these legacy applications - saving time, money, and resources; all whilst reducing security vulnerabilities, such as cyberattack and/or system failures from aging applications and hardware. Congratulations to the BridgeHead team for taking home this well-deserved 2023 MedTech Breakthrough Award.”

With HealthStore, staff across the ecosystem will be able to access their healthcare information anytime, anywhere, and on any approved device either directly via HealthStore’s web interface or through integrations with the EMR (or other systems).

HealthStore also acts as the central registry and repository to aid hospitals in meeting their HIPAA compliance obligations, particularly the delivery of the USCDI and the designated record set (DRS), thereby avoiding penalties associated with the ONC’s information blocking rules.
