Former chairman of Reform UK, Zia Yusuf, has announced he is returning to the party to run its DOGE team shortly after quitting.

Yusuf resigned his position as party chairman on Thursday, saying that getting a Reform UK government elected was not ‘a good use of my time’.

He was joined in leaving by tech entrepreneur Nathaniel Fried who led the party’s unit tasked with identifying spending cuts in councils. This unit was inspired by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the US.

In a statement on X over the weekend, Yusuf said the decision to leave the party was ‘a decision born of exhaustion.’

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage said he was 'delighted' by Yusuf's return, adding that he would also 'assist the party with policy, fundraising and media appearances.'
