The chair of the powerful Public Accounts Committee has predicted Brexit will lead to ‘rushed and bad decisions’ by Whitehall.
Meg Hillier, who admitted weeping yesterday after Article 50 was triggered, said she despaired over the UK’s situation.
She told The MJ’s Future Forum today: ‘I do worry about the cost of Brexit.
‘The pace at which we have to do it means there will be rushed and bad decisions.
‘For taxpayers’ money it’s not going to be good news.
‘The pull will be to deal with the crisis of Brexit.’
Ms Hillier added it was a ‘nightmare’ for select committees trying to squeeze out answers about Brexit from Government departments.
