Dorset Council has received a £25,000 cash grant from a nuclear decommissioning company to help support vulnerable people.
The funding, from Magnox and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, will be invested in three local foodbanks, providing PPE for volunteers and the provision of arts and crafts resources for vulnerable youngsters.
Magnon has committed £300,000 worth of grants to local authorities or charities where one of its sites are located.
Cllr Laura Miller, the council’s portfolio holder for adult social care and health, said: ‘This significant Magnox donation will go some way in ensuring that we have sufficient foodbank stock ready as we continue to keep our volunteers, foodbank and community hub staff safe as they provide a lifeline service to some of the most vulnerable residents in our communities.’
