The government has ordered a review into Slough social services following a highly critical Ofsted inspection earlier this year.
Inspectors found serious weaknesses in its child protection work and rated its children’s services as inadequate in a report published in February.
Independent consultancy OPM has been commissioned by the Department for Education to look at ways to improve local provision.
Ruth Bagley, chief executive of Slough Council, said: ‘We will be working with the team throughout their visit and will be showing them the progress we have already made, and we hope the review will give a real impetus to how services can be improved long-term.
‘The team is focussing on ways forward and together we will be encouraging staff to have their say on the achievements, positives and barriers so we can tailor the best arrangements for the future.’
