Four men have been arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of council worker Ashley Dale in Liverpool last month.

Officers were called to an address in Leinster Road on Sunday 21 August following reports of concern for a woman at the property.

The emergency services found Ms. Dale, 28, in the back garden with gunshot wounds. She was taken to hospital but sadly died a short time later.

A 27-year-old man, a 40-year-old man, and a 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and possession of a firearm.

A 57-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Additionally, two men and two women remain on bail in relation to the murder.

The Knowsley Council employee had recently been promoted in an Environmental Health role.

In a statement in response to the murder, the council said: ‘Ashley Dale was a well-liked and much respected 28-year-old Knowsley Council employee. She had recently been promoted in an Environmental Health role and had a future full of potential. But she was shot and killed – despite police believing she was not the intended target – in her own home in the early hours of Sunday morning [21 August] in Old Swan. An appeal is underway to find her killer. Ashley’s family, her colleagues and the local community have been left stunned by this incident.’
