Local government think-tanks’ ‘unique’ link

Two top local government think-tanks are to join forces in the new year.

The Centre for Public Service Partnerships (CPSP) and the Local Government Information Unit (LGIU) will join forces, with CPSP, moving from its current base at Birmingham University to join the LGIU.

John Tizard will remain director of CPSP, which will be known as
CPSP@LGiU.

Mr Tizard, a regular writer for The MJ, said: ‘This exciting partnership with LGiU provides a unique opportunity to extend our work with the policy and practice communities, as well as undertake objective research.’

LGIU chief executive, Andy Sawford, said: ‘The launch is a coup for the LGiU. We highly rate the work of Mr Tizard and his colleagues and are delighted to form a new partnership.’

The partnership will go live in January.
