Osborne confirms third-year council tax freeze
Jonathan Werran
Chancellor, George Osborne, has confirmed Government plans to extend the council tax freeze into a third successive year.
Osborne pledged £450m support would be allocated to English local authorities in 2013/14 to extend the freeze into a third year – a deal 85% of councils accepted last year.
Authorities signing up to the grant scheme would receive the funding in two equal instalments over the 2013/14 and 2014/15 financial years – a figure the Department for Communities and Government claims is equivalent to a 1% hike in council tax next year.

I hope most councils resist this erosion of their revenue base after three years most councils will be 7-8 % down on what they can charge. It's another ploy Central Govt. have of cutting Local Govt. funding over a period of time.
