Cheshire East chief executive leaves

Jamie Hailstone

Cheshire East Council has revealed that chief executive Erika Wenzel has left the council, following a period of sickness absence.

The local authority announced last week that Ms Wenzel left the role by mutual agreement on 30 June with a £93,550 pay-out.

She was appointed to the job in October 2008, prior to the unitary authority starting in April 2009.

‘I had limited experience of working with Erika, but I have huge respect for anyone who has built a business from scratch and people tell me that she achieved much in those first three years,’ said council leader, Cllr Michael Jones.

‘I now wish her a speedy recovery and I am sure that she will see the hard work and commitment that she gave to the council and will provide a solid foundation for great things to come.’
