Strategic Director, Education and Enterprise
Wolverhampton City Council
02 November 2012
Wolverhampton is proud to be at the heart of the UK’s manufacturing base and is determined to play a fundamental role in the country’s economic future. To reflect the value we place on skills, education, regeneration and economic development, the City Council has created a ground-breaking Education and Enterprise Directorate which is driving forward this agenda and creating a learning pathway for our young people through education and on to employment.
The Directorate has already developed a new approach to revitalising the city centre and has worked hard to generate jobs for the city including the arrival of the new Jaguar Land Rover engine plant. In addition, our planning service is becoming more business focused and our £270m Building Schools for the Future programme is delivering some exciting new learning environments.
We now need a Strategic Director to lead this crucial and innovative agenda – someone with the strategic vision to see the synergies between these service areas and to grasp the opportunities on offer. You will need to have substantial senior experience within a relevant Local Government context, but as importantly you will need to be determined, ambitious and corporate, with the ability to build strong relationships with a wide array of partners and stakeholders.
