  • Description
Winchester. There are many reasons why Hampshire’s waste and environment service is nationally acclaimed. Thanks to the county's recycling efforts and our three Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs), we send just 10% of household waste to landfill. That's less than any other county council. In addition, our ERF’s create the equivalent amount of electricity needed to power 50,000 homes every year.

These achievements reflect our forward-thinking approach, from resource management to energy, environmental delivery to county planning.

It’s all part of our wider “Open for Business Plan”, which has been created to transform the County Council, ensuring it is well positioned for future success. This plan is a positive response to unprecedented challenges. In essence, it means staying ahead of the game and driving value in everything we do.

In this role, you can look forward to real opportunities for breaking new ground - using your innovative approach to ensure Hampshire remains “Open for Business” and committed to providing excellent services that meet the needs of the community.

Drawing on your experience in a similar complex and service critical role, you’ll provide high level support, advice and leadership on a range of waste and environment delivery issues. We’ll look to you to develop our service’s vision, resources, structure, culture and business processes.

To succeed, you’ll need to combine your proven track record of working at senior management level with an appetite to develop your career and truly make your mark. After all, a significant aspect of this role involves leading and championing innovation - whether that’s through procurement, partnership working, re-engineering business processes or investing in new technologies. There’s simply no room for sitting back here.

Join us, and you’ll be playing a key role in moving and shaping a prospering Hampshire. Thanks to your enlightened approach, we’ll continue to improve performance, maximise opportunities, develop services and reposition the organisation for the future.
