Deputy Chief Fire Officer
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service
£121,144 per annum plus benefits
20 April 2012
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are seeking to appoint a progressive, first class Deputy Chief Fire Officer. The service is nationally recognised as a high performing, innovative organisation that is well regarded by the communities it serves and the partner agencies with which it does business. The Fire and Rescue Authority is committed to delivering its vision of ‘A Safer South Yorkshire’.
We have a unique opportunity for a high calibre individual with determination, demonstrable strategic skills and political awareness to significantly support the leadership of the Service into the future.
We are committed to building capacity at the top of our organisation and will support your development. In turn, you will oversee the development of the organisation and ensure that being fit for the future is kept high on our agenda. To succeed, you will have an open and transparent style, and be able to work successfully with Members, colleagues and external stakeholders.
Like all public bodies we are currently faced with having to address significant cuts in funding. The successful candidate will need to meet such a challenge head on and ensure the level of service to the communities we serve remains effective and provides necessary reassurance. Confidence in the corporate environment, an open and transparent style of management and a commitment to all aspects of diversity will be essential in building effective relationships with Authority Members, colleagues and external stakeholders in managing this significant period of change.
Whilst an appreciation of the technical aspects of the role is important, it is not essential that applicants have an operational background.
If you believe you possess the required attributes, we would welcome your CV for consideration.
A recruitment pack can be obtained from Stephanie Barker, Head of HR & Business Support, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Authority; 01226 772858 or by email here.
Closing date for applications is 4.00pm, Friday 20 April, 2012. All applications will be given equal consideration.
