  • Salary
    £44,674 - £60,710

  • Description
The Economy, Transport and Environment Directorate is refocusing its leadership and management capacity to transform the service within the context of very challenging financial pressures over the next 3-5 years, but more importantly because of the need to change the way our services are delivered so that we can meet the needs of the people and businesses of Cambridgeshire

These are testing times for Economy, Transport and Environment, as they are for the Council as a whole and public services generally. The Council has a new Leader and a new Cabinet, together with new corporate objectives and ways of working and a new senior management team. We certainly face challenges, but we also have tremendous opportunities to rise to these and help make Economy, Transport and Environment more valued by our residents, businesses, members and partners, with stronger customer focus, being much more in touch with our communities, more efficient, responsive, flexible and effective.

Candidates should be equipped with the skills and experience to:
    ·    Lead change and transform the way we work
    ·    Work closely with local members, communities and partners to deliver outcomes
    ·    Ensure people feel empowered to make things happen
    ·    Support development of core competencies and skills
    ·    Enable flexibility, variety and more opportunity for all staff

The Head of Traffic and Road Safety will lead, develop and manage a County wide approach to ’keeping traffic moving safely’ by continual improvement of traffic management and road safety services through performance management, business planning, delivery of action plans and risk management. This post will also fulfil the Council’s statutory Traffic Manager function.

You will collaborate with government, partners, different agencies and services in order to ensure improved performance that delivers positive outcomes for people using the transport network.
