The Scottish Youth Parliament has renewed calls for young people to be given the vote and encouraged to take part in politics.
The chair of the parliament Jordan Linden claimed 16- and17-year-olds were being excluded from a say on Europe and from taking part in UK government elections.
He said the latest census of the parliament showed its membership was the most diverse in its history.
But he said the Electoral Reform Society had warned many students and young people could be left unable to vote because of the Government's plans for individual registration.
Mr Linden said there should be more communication with young people about registering to vote and called on the UK Government to urgently investigate the Electoral Reform Society's claims.
He said: 'We are in danger of destroying the hope and the legacy that was left after the Scottish Referendum.
'We need to send a clear message to young people that their voices matter, and that they are important and valued participants in the democratic process.'
