Fulham based Ray’s Playhouse has opened its new inclusive playground. The charity was formed in 2012 following a high-profile campaign led by parents to save the much-loved Sands End Playhouse, which had been operating for over thirty years.
Staff at the Playhouse raised £51,000 to create an exciting new playground that enables children of all abilities to play side-by-side.
Play equipment company Sutcliffe Play worked with Ray’s Playhouse to create an inclusive natural playground that is designed to stimulate children’s senses using innovative sand play solutions.
Andrew Love from Sutcliffe Play says: “The sand play unit allows children to play together in different ways. They can climb and sit, or use the pulley system and sieve to move sand up and down.
“We’ve also installed one of Sutcliffe Play’s most inclusive items, the dish roundabout. This rotating dish can be used for very fast, dynamic play. The rocking and rotating motion combined with the body support and security given by the dish shape, make it accessible to all.”
