Nearly 2,000 new homes and five developments have been given the go-ahead by Salford City Council.
The new approvals mean planning permission has been granted for over 17,800 new homes over the next ten years in the city, as well as £3.5bn worth of investment in non-residential developments.
Councillor Derek Antrobus, assistant mayor for strategic planning, said: ‘New homes and new jobs are great news for us and it also widens the city’s tax base which softens the impact of government grant cuts.’
The schemes approved include four 26 storey buildings at Salford Quays, a six storey new office for BUPA to create and protect jobs in the area, and over 100 homes as part of an £11m regeneration scheme at the former Willows Rugby Club site.
The approvals bring the total number of homes granted planning permission to over 17,800 alongside an estimated £3.5 billion worth of investment in non-residential developments planned for the city over the next 10 years.
