Norfolk CC has announced it will collaborate with HP in a bid to harness data from multiple agencies across the region.
A cloud based information hub will take on the economic and social value of data held by Norfolk and its partner agencies, helping to inform knowledge of the local economy and enabling the town hall to make evidence-based decisions.
Norfolk affirmed creation of a platform for information on the council and its partners would create ‘a single view’ of service delivery, potentially enabling savings of around 20%.
HP will work with partners including Microsoft, Vodafone and 50 small-medium sized enterprises to create a desktop, data centre and collaboration infrastructure in Norfolk.
Norfolk CC leader, George Nobbs, said: ‘Economic growth is at the top of the county council’s priorities, and this ground-breaking initiative will ensure that we are best placed to do that.
‘The financial challenges facing the public sector mean it is essential that we collaborate with our partners across the county to better plan and deliver public services for Norfolk.’
Vice-president and general manager, UK Public Sector, at HP Enterprise Services, Stuart Bladen, said: ‘Norfolk has a forward-thinking county council and the region is tackling some of the most complex big data challenges in areas such as climate change and food science.
‘This initiative with Norfolk is unique in local government in the UK—it will provide a new style of public service that enables multiple agencies to effectively participate in joint service delivery.’
