Come join Food Matters Live - the biggest ever cross-sector event to address one of the most important issues of our time: the relationship between food, health and nutrition.
Taking place at London’s ExCeL centre on November 17-19, the event is free to attend and offers visitors a host of opportunities to network with more than 12,000 professionals at the forefront of food retail and supply, manufacturing, science, health, academia and government.
More than 400 experts will take part in the impressive three-day education programme, which includes 17 live debates, 80 practical and applied seminars and six thought-provoking attractions.
A stellar line-up of speakers will participate in the Food Matters Live Conference, which will focus on tackling childhood obesity, malnutrition, sustainable diets, food waste, nourishing an ageing population and sustaining consumer demand for healthier food and drink.
Eden Project creator Sir Tim Smit; Defra Minister of State George Eustice; science broadcaster Dr Alice Roberts; Leon Restaurants’ co-founder Henry Dimbleby; Iceland’s Nick Canning; Simon Hazlett from Boulder Brands UK; the Food and Drink Federation’s Ian Wright; British Dietetic Association’s Fiona McCullough; the British Hospitality Association’s Ufi Ibrahim and Professor Tim Benton, champion for the UK’s Global Food Security programme, are among those taking part.
They join government ministers, business leaders, scientists, academics, healthcare professionals and chefs in a series of in depth debates, chaired by BBC presenters Jonathan Dimbleby, Anita Anand and Justin Webb.
At the same time a multi-stream seminar programme provides an unrivalled learning opportunity, with 300 expert speakers from nutrition, health, R&D, academia and the food and drink sector covering a wide-range of topics.
These include: how to improve the availability and delivery of free-from food and drink, strategies to reduce salt, sugar and fat; maternal, infant, sports and community nutrition; latest trends in sustainable retailing and food business, packaging and exemplar brand strategies.
And to put all these issues into perspective is the Food Matters Live Exhibition, which features household names such as, The Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition/ General Mills, Yakult, Nutricia Early Life Nutrition, Iceland, Nestle Cereals and a2 milk, plus foodservice exhibitors apetito, Premier Foodservice and Sodexo.
They are joined by ingredient suppliers such as: Döhler, Diana Food, Rousselot, PureCircle and Dupont, and key trade bodies including the British Frozen Food Federation and the Food and Drink Federation.
The Food Matters Live Research Pavilion will host some of the food sector’s leading research, testing and analysis organisations, such as the University of Nottingham, Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health, and Rothamstead Research.
The Enterprise Zone brings the spotlight on to some of the most innovative start-ups showcasing free-from food and drink, such as Oppo Ice Cream, More than Meat, Silly Yak and Cauli Rice.
And Food Matters Live plays host to a number of themed attractions, such as the Food Sensorium, Catering for health and the Innovative Ingredients theatre, which feature cooking demonstrations, tastings and interactive science shows.
Also being showcased is the Free-from zone, Drink Well and the Tea Garden, where visitors can meet tea ambassadors from Twinings and the Sri Lanka Tea Board, and participate in tea masterclasses.
The Meet the Buyer area gives exhibitors and visitors a chance to forge relationships with retailers, manufacturers and distributors, such as Tesco, Nutricentre, Hider Food and Ocado, while The Growth Lab offers entrepreneurs access to a range of business advisory specialists.
In addition, Food Matters Live plays host to a number of special events, ranging from industry awards, professional development for healthcare workers, to industry networking and collaboration.
