Three members of staff have been suspended from North Lanarkshire Council, following ‘serious’ allegations of corruption.
The council launched an investigation back in April, after it receive an anonymous letter about corruption in the council's procurement processes.
The council has now suspended three workers while it carries out a disciplinary investigation.
Paul Jukes, chief executive of North Lanarkshire Council, said: ‘I received an extensive report from internal audit last Friday. Having considered the report, I have taken the decision to suspend three members of staff from corporate property and procurement on full pay to allow for a disciplinary investigation to take place.
‘The council will have no further comment to make while this disciplinary investigation is carried out.’
