Allegations of a ‘Trojan Horse’-type takeover of a primary school in Oldham have ‘no basis’, council says.
A primary school in the northeastern town has been the subject of accusations that there has been an attempted Islamist takeover comparable to the 2014 ‘Trojan Horse’ scandal in Birmingham.
There have also been claims that the headteacher of Clarksfield Primary School received threats and felt she had to work from home.
However, an investigation by the council into suggestions that hardline Muslims were trying to infiltrate the school leadership have revealed no evidence of a plot.
‘We take any allegations about our schools very seriously and always investigate in the interests of pupils, staff and parents,’ said Amanda Chadderton, cabinet member for education and early years.
‘The report into an Oldham primary school found no basis to the ‘Trojan Horse’ allegations.’
