A Yorkshire council has been landed with a repair bill of over £50,000 after a car show damaged a newly resurfaced road.
North Yorkshire County Council recently spent several weeks and more than £600,000 repairing and resurfacing Royal Albert Drive.
However, the resurfaced road was damaged at a Static Royal car event last weekend leaving the council with a bill of thousands of pounds.
‘The improvements were made to benefit the local economy and enhance the area for residents and visitors,’ said a council spokesperson.
‘It is disappointing that more work now needs to be undertaken, resulting in further cost to the public and inconvenience for drivers and residents.’
The council is considering pursuing a civil claim in order to reclaim some of the costs.
